Area students named to Mount Mercy Dean's List

The following students have been named to the Spring 2014 Dean's List at Mount Mercy University. Students with a semester grade point average of 3.60 or better, and who are graded (letter grade, not pass/fail) for six or more semester hours, are eligible for inclusion on the Dean's List.   Atkins:

Henderson, Ramsey named to U of Dubuque Dean's List

The University of Dubuque congratulates the following local students on being appointed to the Spring Semester 2014 Academic Dean's List: Dylan Ramsey, Urbana; and Kristin Henderson, Vinton. To be named to the dean's list, a student must earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for that semester. The University of Dubuque, founded in 1852, is a private, coeducational, professional University with a focus in the liberal arts.

Area students make Winter/May Term Dean's List at Wartburg

Nathan Horst Named to Spring 2014 Dean's List at Creighton University

Nathan Horst of Blairstown, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences, was named to the 2014 spring semester Dean's List at Creighton University. Full-time students who earn a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale are eligible for the Dean's Honor Roll. Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., enrolls 4,000 undergraduates and 4,000 graduate and professional students among nine schools and colleges.

Clarke Announces Spring 2014 Dean's List

The following area students were named to the Dean's List at Clarke University for the spring 2014 semester. NCCC Helps Celebrate Wildlife alongside Many Others

By Olivia Brown                 Since May 8 AmeriCorps NCCC team Oak 8 has been serving diligently side by side with Taltree Arboretum & Gardens in Valparaiso, Indiana. The team had assisted the staff with invasive plant removal, trail maintenance and the building of an animal shelter for the groups’ goats and pigs.

Area Students Named to Buena Vista University Dean's List

The following students have been named to the Dean's List for the Spring 2014 semester at Buena Vista University: Jamie Rich of Belle Plaine Kelsey Kankelfitz of Atkins Seth Woodson of Dysart Michael Meisheid of Walker Students on the list must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for the semester based on a 4.0 grade point system and must have taken at least 12 hours of coursework.

AmeriCorps NCCC Class 20 Corps Member Spotlight: Rachel Zima

By: Sarah Williams Rachel Zima, from Burlington, Vermont is serving on team Maple 6 in AmeriCorps NCCC Class 20. She arrived in Vinton on February 11 to start her 10-month service term. Maple 6 is made up of eight people from across the country who will serve together around the Midwest. Rachel says “After years spent in a classroom discussing ideas and concepts, I knew it was time to gain real world experience - time to put my ideas and skills to work helping others.

AmeriCorps NCCC Class 20 Corps Member Spotlight: Julia Kuzmenko

Julia Kuzmenko, from Portland, Oregon is serving on team oak 1 in AmeriCorps NCCC Class 20. She arrived in Vinton on February 11 to start her 10-month service term. Oak 1 is made up of ten people from across the country who will serve together around the Midwest. Julia  says” I just graduated high school and I know AmeriCorps is the perfect opportunity for me to learn to be independent (away from my family), a good leader, and see what opportunities may lie in my future.

NCCC Maple 8 at Jameson Camp‏

AmeriCorps NCCC team Maple 8 was assisting at Jameson Camp in Indianapolis Indiana. Maple 8 was asked to help with several activities which they are responsible for facilitating for children of all ages. Maple 8 takes great pride in helping Jameson Camp with the different tasks set before them, which can either have the team serving with children of all ages in environmental education classes, or out in the forest clearing paths of Honey Suckle.
